Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

This has been one of the best experiences at a dental office. I cant say enough good things about this place. The receptionists were so kind. They worked my children and I into appointments after we moved here when they were already super full, but found a spot for us. They didnt charge me to take additional xrays after transferring care cause we moved from the Woodlands. I sent my son who is almost 17 by himself and even my teenager had a positive experience here. The staff called me to let me know how the visit went while he was there. We have seen 2 hygienists so far and have another appointment this evening and they were all knowledgeable, gentle, thorough and very good with my youngest daughter who is a difficult dental patient at times. Maggie is hands down one of the kindest people and hygienist Ive ever had. The hygienist even played with my daughter for a couple minutes when I got a quick work call I needed to accept. Dr. Erickson was really good with my kids, had positive vibes and was efficient. We were in and out in a timely manner. We love our new dental office in College Station. Thanks Jay Erickson Dental staff.
